Murder Trivia Party

The Game: Murder Trivia Party

Mechanic: Co-operative Play

Playing the JackBox game Murder Trivia Party with my classmates was a really fun experience. It is a trivia game where one player hosts the game and gets a four-letter code. Other players can join the game or be a part of the audience by entering the code on their devices. The game asks multiple trivia questions to all the players and the ones that get it wrong enter the death rooms, where they face elimination with different tasks. This is where other players and the audience can participate to increase their chances of elimination. The game continues for a series of questions eliminating players one by one. In the end, one player survives, but to get to the exit they have to face a rapid-fire round where they need to get a bunch of questions right. The other dead players can try to answer and get ahead of the survivor to beat them to the exit gate. Playing it in the class with my peers was really fun as a lot of them gave reactions to the questions and when they couldn’t get it right. When the entire group tried to beat the survivor to the exit gate it got really chaotic, but entertaining. The audience did not really play that big of a part in the game that we played apart from some of the death room tasks. Which felt unfair to the players, but it was part of the game and added to the experience.
